ANNUAL REPORT 2018 - 2019

It gives me immense pleasure and pride to present before you the Annual Report of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor for the year 2018-2019.


Excellence in academics is the hallmark of any good institution and class X and XII results of our School prove without any doubt that our students have made us proud.

100% result was secured by our eighteenth batch of STD XII students in AISSCE 2018. Abhinand J Pai and Aparna K were the toppers in the Science Stream with 96.8% and Ashtamoorthy C was the topper in the Commerce Stream with 94.6%. 12 students in Science stream and 3 students in Commerec stream secured A1 in all subjects.

100% results were secured by the students of Std X in AISSE 2018. Rahul B Menon was the topper with 98.6%. 26 students secured A1 in all subjects.

This year we have 155 students of STD XII and 162 students of STD X appearing for the AISSCE & AISSE respectively. Our prayers and blessings are with them.

At present our total student strength is 2079. Our family comprises a dedicated team of 96 teaching staff and 30 non- teaching staff.

Co-Scholastic activities

Education is to human beings what faceting is to diamonds. It has for its object the formation of character and the development of the whole personality.

Values like humanity, world peace, patriotism etc are nurtured by celebrating Ramayana week, Onam, Christmas, Muharram, Children’s Day, World Environment Day, Independence Day, Republic Day, Hiroshima Day, Quit India Day, Sanskrit Day, Human Rights Day etc, lending colour and vibrance to school life. It fills my heart with joy to inform you that our students have excelled not only in academics but have won laurels for the school in the fields of art, culture and sports.

Achievements to Cherish in 2018-‘19

  • Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor hosted the Bhavan’s Model United Nations 2018(BMUN 2018). Spread over two days, the event witnessed around 250 delegates from 15 schools in and around Kochi, representing various member countries of the UN, showcasing their debating skills and vying for the most coveted titles. The two day event concluded on 29 September. The best Delegation Award was presented to Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor
  • In the essay writing competition organized by Coconut Development Board as part of Hindi Pakhwada Celebrations 2018 Dr. E Rajesh Menon from the Department of Biology secured the second prize.
  • Soorya Gayathri R and Rajeswahri U Kartha of Std XII were awarded the Adi Shankara young scientists Award 2018 consisting of scholarship for higher studies in Adi Shankara group of institutions and a trip to Sathish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikotta.
  • Varun Varma of Std XI bagged the “Diplomacy Award for DISEC” at RMUN conducted by Rajagiri School, Kalamassery.
  • Arya Gayathri R of Std VII C won a scholarship of Rs.6000/- in the Deendayal Sparsh Yogana Philately scholarship conducted by the Dept of Post, Kerala.
  • In Tech Ed 2018 conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya Vaduthala Adwaith Narayanan, Athul Krishna, Devana Deepesh and Sam Jose of Std X secured the third position in Virtuoso(Music Production).
  • In the science exhibition our school team comprising Aditya Chandrabose, Athulkrishna, Dev G Raj, Aryagayathri R and Siddharth bagged the second prize in ‘Plasthetics’, Waste Management category.
  • In the Academic Pentathlon conducted by The Hindu at Oberon Mall ,Our school team won the second place and were selected for the State level.


  • In Pratheeksha 2018, our school won the First Runner Up position.
  • Sradha Lin Ajay and Priansh Nair of Std V won the second prize in the WWF quiz held at Trivandrum.
  • Siddharth Ranjit, Uday paul George and Mohit N of Std IX got third prize in Kochi Q league and are qualified for the state level mega finals.
  • Siddharth Ranjith and Uday Paul of Std IX got second prize in All Kerala Inter school Science quiz.Siddharth Ranjith of Std IX and Aakash Raj of Std X were the winners of
    • The Navy Quiz 2018
    • And Smart Brain quiz for which they received a cash prize of Rs.2000/-
  • Varun Varma & Siddharth Menon of Std XI secured second position in “Cryptic Crossword”
  • Anurag Vinodkumar & Devraj of Std XI got selected to the second round of  ‘Samasya Quiz” conducted by NIT Calicut.
  • In the Science and Technology Quiz conducted at CUSAT, B Anandadeva and Gokul Dev of Std X won the first prize.
  • In the Interschool Elocution & Quiz Competition conducted at KRL Unnikrishnan M & Sreejith K S of Std X secured the second prize and Viswanath B & Alan Nixon secured third prize and consolation prize respectively for Malayalam elocution.
  • In the ‘SAEVUS Eco Acheivers Quiz’ , Uma Manju of Std V , Diya Menon of Std VI  and Bhavana Alapatt of Std VII won the second prize.
  • In School Super League conducted by Times NIE Shiva V Menon of Std VI and Swetha Sumesh of Std VIII emerged toppers and received a Tab each.


  • Gayathri Roopesh of Std V
    • won the first prize in the “All Kerala Inter School Painting Competition-Ernakulam Region”.
    • She also won the first prize and a cash prize of Rs.20,000 in the Ernakulam District crayons drawing competiton conducted by Hero Palal Showroom.
    • First with cash prize of Rs.25000 in Funbrella painting competition
    • Second position in Poster Designing.
  • In Atham 2018
    • Nandana K U of Std VII won first prize in Painting and Second in Pencil Drawing.
    • She also secured third position and a cash prize of Rs.500, in the Children’Painting Competition conducted by Kerala Fine Arts Society


I am happy to convey that Bhavika V S of Std XI represented Kerala State in the Khelo India Youth

  • Games where She won the second position in 4 x100 m Relay and 5th Position in 200 m race.
  • She had also won the third position in 100m and second position in 200m race in the interclub athletic meet and represented Kerala state in the south zone athletic meet in 200m.
  • She created a new meet record in 100m and 200m and was adjudged the best athlete in under 17 girls category in the All Kerala CBSE State Cluster Athletic Meet.
  • Our School won the most coveted 36th Dr K M Munshi Memorial CBSE Inter-school Athletic Meet Ever-rolling Trophy
  • In the CBSE National Athletic Meet held at Bengaluru our school won the First Position in the U 17 girl
  • Our boys (U-19) and girls(U-17) team participated in the National Kho Kho championship held at Haryana. The girls team bagged the 5th position.
  • Jovita P Joy of Std VIII represented Kerala State in the 29th Sub Junior Kho Kho Championship at Uttarakhand.
  • Aravindh Narayanan of Std XII secured Second Prize in 800m in the Ernakulam District meet and is qualified for the state meet.
  • Girls Under 16 Kho Kho team won the tournament hosted by Rajagiri Christu Jayanti School. Devapriya S Menon of Std VIII was adjudged the player of the tournament. They also won a cash award of Rs.7000.
  • In the Ernakulam District Kho Kho Championship our Sub Junior girls’ team were the winners. Junior Girls secured the Second Place and Sub Junior Boys secured the third place.
  • In the All Kerala CBSE State Cluster Athletic Meet held at Pala, our school won the championship trophy in the under 14 girls category.
  • Our school team won the Kerala State CBSE cluster 11 Kho Kho Championship 2018 held in the under 17 girls and under 19 boys category.
  • In the Shoto Cup 2018-19 Sreekarthik S Menon bagged the following prizes
    • Second Black Belt in Individual Kata
    • Second Black Belt in Kumite
    • First Black Belt in Team Kata
  • In Indo - Srilankan Open Karate Championship 2018
    • Abhinav P A of Std IV, Keshavnath S Menon of Std II, Darshana Deepak of std II and Kashinath S Menon of Std VII the first prize.
    • Our students have also won various prizes in the Inter School Karate Championship held at SDKY Gurukula Vidyalaya, Eroor in July.
    • In the All Kerala Inter School Karate Championship 2018, our school won the overall championship.
    • In the 13th All Kerala Inter School PNB Varuna Chess Tournament 2018 our school team secured the third position.

National Cadet Corps

We are proud to announce that the fifth year of our senior division of NCC is functioning with the same vigour and enthusiasm.

  • At present our NCC Wing has 54 Senior Division cadets, Vinayak C Dileep and Gautham M V attended Army attachment camp at Pangode, Trivandrum and 18 are eligible to appear for B certificate exam which is scheduled in February 2019.


Our school library is a store house of knowledge which provides the students an ideal environment to develop their reading habits. 150 books have been added to the existing stock of 14026 books in the library.

Edu Sports

Training sessions to maintain a healthy and fit physique for the students of the K G & the Primary sections, continues under the able guidance of the Edu Sport personnel.

Support Group

  • The discipline committee looks into the overall discipline of the school.
  • A housekeeping and welfare committee look into the hygiene of the entire school.

New Initiative

  • In the aftermath of the recent floods, plastic bottles which were left behind in large numbers were made use of to create useful contraptions like waste bins, torches, flower vases, lamp shades and other artifacts.
  • To keep abreast with the Latest trends in emerging field of Information technology ppts were prepared by the students of Std XI & XII on the Topics like Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology in Human development etc.
  • Book Bag -
    • Students of Std I, II and III are given library books during the weekend, which they return the following week .This enhances their reading skill and develops interest in reading.
    • We have registered for the ISA(International School Award) , a prestigious award by the British Council for the schools having an outstanding level of support for enriching teaching and learning as well as nurturing intercultural understanding.
    • We are happy to inform that we have commenced the setting up of Atal Tinkering Lab in our School.

Open House

We hold open house and class wise meetings every year which help create a strong rapport between parents and teachers.

Resource Room and Counselling

The Resource Room is an initiative to provide guidance to students who need special care and attention. A Well-trained counsellor and teachers help the student with their emotional, psychological and educational needs

Teacher support through professional development programme

The Principal, Vice Principal and all subject teachers attended workshops in their respective subjects conducted by the CBSE and various organizations on teaching methodology.

Shikshan Bharati Evaluation in the scholastic and co-scholastic areas was conducted under the able guidance of Smt Sukumari Menon, Education Officer, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra.

School Infrastructure

The school auditorium in the Ramakrishna Block has received a complete facelift. Tiles have been paved and the hall has been complete, done up with textured walls, a beautiful false ceiling and mechanised curtain system

Cultural Outreach Programme

As part of Cultural Outreach Programme initiated by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra in collaboration with Spic Macay a “Purulia Chhau” performance depicting the story of “Mahishasuramardanam” was staged here on Dec 6.

CBSE Initiative

The school was the examination centre for AISSCE & AISSE 2018 examinations and evaluation in the subjects of Chemistry and Malayalam.

Student Empowerment Programme

The students of our school attended the following Empowerment Programmes

  • Our school team comprising 8 students and the Vice Principal are right now attending Harvard MUN at Boston.
  • Literature and Literate Us, an inter-house quiz competition, as part of Reading Week Celebration.
  • A Student Protection Group was formed to spread awareness on drug abuse and trafficking with the co-operation of PTA, representatives of auto drivers, school bus drivers and shopkeepers in the vicinity.
  • Hands on session on App Inventor for the students of Std XII.
  • A career guidance session for commerce students.
  • 13 students from classes VI-XII participated in the “Tinker Fest 2018” a program on technology tinkering & innovation conducted by Bhavan’s Vidya mandir,Girinagar
  • 13 students from Std X along with two teachers attended a workshop “One Day at IT World” at TCS InfoPark
  • Shri Rajesh Menon E along with 5 students attended a speech on “Plastic Pollution” at Krishi Bhavan Vytilla.
  • Students of Seed Club attended a session in connection with World First Aid Day
  • Students of std X attended a session by Shri Pratheek IPS
  • Students of std XI attended a session by Shri Jayesh Jayan, scientist from ISRO.
  • 41 Students from Std X and 50 Students from Std XI & XII attended the ‘Topper’s Meet on Climate Change’ at BVM Elamakkara. The event was organized by Divecha Centre, IISc Banglore
  • 25 students along with two teachers attended ‘Nature Turks’ , an experiential learning platform for students organised by World View at Hyderabad.
  • 14 students from classes IX to XII attended RMUN organised by Rajagiri School, Kalamassery.
  • 6 students along with Ms. Dhanya attended HMUN at Hyderabad.
  • Awareness programme on the following topics

    • Health and Hygiene
    • Beat Plastic pollution

    • General Health Care & Modern Medicine
    • Latest Trends in Science & Technology

Student Exchange Programme

As part of Programme For Educational And Cultural Exchange (PEACE), 23 students and 3 teachers from our school visited Grammar School, Faversham, Kent.

Newspaper In Education (NIE)

The NIE programme was conducted for the students of Std VIII ,IX& X under the auspices of the Hindu and for the students of Std VI &VII under The Times of India.

Health checkup

Health is hearty, health is harmony, health is happiness”, upholding this statement, we conduct health check up every year for the students of classes I – XII to ensure good health and hygiene among students.

Social Consciousness

  • Our school not only gives importance to academics but also encourages the students to respond to the needs and sufferings of others. Provisions & medicines are distributed to 10 to 15 needy families on an average, in the school’s neighbourhood every month.
  • I am very happy and proud to mention the praiseworthy service rendered by our students in the aftermath of floods that ravaged our state in August last year. The relief fund collected by them was used to buy provisions and towels for around 100 families in the neighbourhood. I also extend my gratitude to parents for their whole hearted support in this venture of our students.
  • We actively participate in the Palliative Care Program undertaken by BharatiyaVidyaBhavan, Kochi.

Parent Teacher Association

The PTA, functioning efficiently under the able guidance of the PTA President, Smt Anupama R , is indeed a pillar of support. PTA meetings are held at regular intervals to review the activities of the students and seek parents’ participation and feedback.

The activities undertaken by the PTA are:

  • Sponsored track suits , for the students who participated in the CBSE National Athletic Meet.
  • Provided 40 new Yoga Mats, portable basket ball hoop and Almirahs in all the classrooms in the primary block
  • Arranged refreshment for students practising sports and games.
  • As a part of Kerala Piravi Celebration, PTA organised a program 'Naavooru' by Kanjur Naattupolima. The programmes included vattamuditheyyam, Perunkaaliyaattom, Maanitheyyam and Naadan Paattu.

Teaching and parenting is of course, a privileged, sacred trust. The closer we work together, the more fruitful the opportunities for each and every child continue to be in our school.

Many milestones have been achieved and many still have to be reached. We, at BVM, Eroor, will continue our unceasing efforts to mould the young minds into well balanced personalities with confidence and zeal befitting the standards of this portal of education.

On this memorable occasion, let me express my deep appreciation to the effort of a committed team, the teaching and non- teaching staff of our school. I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to the management, parents and all well-wishers. I also bow my head in obeisance to Lord Almighty for showering such abundant blessings upon us.
